Цалиев Александр Михайлович

Aleksandr Mikhaylovich Tsaliev, President of Constitutional Court of the North Ossetia – Alania Republic, Second Parliament Deputy since 1999. He was born on January 5, 1951, in Dur-Dur, Digora District of the North Ossetian ASSR, graduated from the Juridical Department of North Ossetian State University (with honors) in 1975, and finished postgraduate studies at Leningrad State University in 1981, Doctor of Juridica Sciences, Professor. He defended his candidate dissertation on “Criminological Characteristics of Violent and Financial Criminals and their Typology” in 1981 at Leningrad State University and after that (1993) doctoral dissertation on “Violent and Financial Crimes and their Prevention in the North Caucasus Republics”. From 1976 to 1994 he worked at the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminology, assistant, senior lecturer, head of the chair at North Ossetian State University; he was a minister of justice of North Ossetia – Alania, 3rd-degree justice state councilor; Academician of the Academy of Humanitarian Sciences of the Russian Federation. He is an author of more than 100 published scientific, methodological, and journalistic works. He is awarded a Certificate of Honor of the North Ossetia – Alania, A.F. Koni medal. He is married, has three children, and enjoys sports – unarmed self-defense.
